Chick-Fil-A Spirit Night Video

Our youth group will be hosting a Spirit Night at the local Chick-Fil-A in Ranson, West Virginia. The agreement that we worked out with the manager is for us to receive 15% of the money that comes in during our time. I believe this is a pretty standard policy. It is a great way for us to earn some money for our youth group without having to do a ton of work. We get to have a delicious dinner and enjoy each other's company while earning money. Our plan is to use the funds to help defray some of the costs of the summer's activities.

In order to promote the Spirit Night, one of my leaders, her daughters, and I shot a video. I need to give props to my friend Josh Evans for the idea of the video. We shot the video on my camcorder. I then took the footage and edited on Windows Movie Maker Live and added a few features.

You can watch the video below.

Cardboard Testimonies (Again)

I'm pretty sure that I've posted something like this before, but these videos overwhelm me every time. We serve and worship a truly amazing God and it is beautiful to see the way that He works in and through people.

Finding Truth in Nickelback

I've been reading a book about reading (that's an interesting thought, right?) and one of the points that the author makes is that God's truth can be communicated through everything, even the most unlikely of sources. What some people read as an interesting story or intriguing book can actually convey elements of the Gospel.

Such is the case with the song Savin' Me by Nickelback. The video for the song is one of the most powerful things I have ever seen. It, in essence, is asking what would you do if you knew that someone's time on Earth was running out, especially if that individual is not a believer? How far would you go to save that person, especially if their "end" was coming unexpectedly?

Please watch the video and leave your thoughts. Tim Schmoyer has actually written some questions to lead discussion after viewing the video. Tim is actually the one who turned me onto the video and I'm grateful.

Stories of Change - Video

I absolutely love stories of how Christ has changed the lives of individuals. Take a moment and reflect on what Christ has done for you and where you would be had He not died for you when you were at your weakest.

...We've Yet to See Anything

I saw this video and I won't lie, it but a serious burning in my heart. I see things like this and it reminds of the great things that pastors are doing and my desire to be doing the same things.

Learning about Being a Christian from My Son

Many of us struggle with the Christian walk. We start and fall, get up and stumble again. This happens over and over. Every time we try to do something under our own power, we end up frustrated and tired. It isn't until we finally just lay down that we come to understand that our Father is just waiting to pick us up and hold us tight. I learned this from watching my youngest son as he is learning to crawl.

I Would Like to Think These Guys Had Awesome Youth Pastors

The video below shows some football players from the University of Nebraska. In a world where a lot of athletes are getting into trouble and finding themselves in the midst of controversy, these guys seems to have their heads on straight and are grounded in the Gospel.

The Meaning of Baptism

I came across this video about the true meaning of baptism. It is more than a simple ritual, something that you have to do as a Christian. I hope and pray that this video will help you to love Christ more and to have a deeper appreciation for your baptism. If you have not been baptized, I pray that it will cause you to want to be baptized.

Cardboard Testimonies

In one of my seminary classes (Personal Evangelism), we were shown this incredibly powerful video. Without saying too much about the video, it is an incredible testimony to the mighty and glorious Savior that we serve. He has the ability to do amazing things and it only requires that we surrender to Him. It's hard work, but as you will see in the video, it is infinitely worth it.

Now, after you have dried your eyes, take a moment and think about what your cardboard testimony would say.

Funny Video About the King James Only Debate

For some reason, I have found myself involved in a number of "discussions" about the King James Version of the Bible. I have always been on the fringe of this discussion for some reason. When I was growing up, I was taught that the only Bible that I should use is the King James Version. I was given the lines about how verses are taken out and key doctrines are removed. In college, it was a huge discussion and got very technical, dealing with manuscripts and libraries and trash cans, that sort of thing. Today, the discussion continues on Facebook.

Personally, I have nothing against the King James Version. While I primarily use the English Standard Version, I also teach and preach from the King James quite often. It is the preferred translation of the church that I attend and serve in. It has always struck me as strange that, while I have no issues with folks who use the KJV, they seem to take issue with me. In college, I had a roommate grab a copy of the New International Version that I was using and throw it across the room. I referenced my concerns with this attitude in a previous post.

The video below was shared with me by a friend. Please watch and enjoy. You should try to see the silliness of the arguments. I don't mean to hurt anyone's feelings, I am simply laughing at the situation. By the way, the video is pretty spot on.

Pride Goes Before a Fall - And We Are All Laughing at You

This video has been making its way around the internet. I found it here. Kind of proves a point...get a big head and you usually end up on your face. I think that's in the Bible somewhere.

Proof As To Why My Career as a Rock Star Never Materialized

Believe it or not, I have always wanted to be a rock star. My friend Terry lived the rock star life for a little bit and he gave me the bug. Before that, I had dreams of stardom while hanging out with my friend Jon and Dave. Needless to say, even though they went on to have a little bit of fame, I never went anywhere.

Here is a video from a school talent show a few years back. It might serve as evidence as to why I never made it as a rock star. And, in case you couldn't tell, I'm the dashingly handsome one in the green shirt and awesome hat.
